I just realized that I've never shown any 'before' pictures of the shack (or many 'after' ones for that matter). I'll start off with the kitchen.
The one and only positive thing about this kitchen is the window. A car ran into this side of the shack a few years ago and they had to replace the siding and window. It is the only window in the whole shack that opens. It's got a lovely view of the highway but now that the wildflowers are growing, we can't even see the concrete.
The stove continues to be the bain of my existence. The rats are gone for good (we hope) but now the oven is broken. Having an oven with one temperature is better than no oven at all. Apparently some fuse thingy is broken and there's no hope to fix it. We've had to rely on my toaster oven (which broils fine but does not bake evenly - one side is totally burnt while the other is perfect). At least the stove top works (for now).
